If you’re facing an unplanned pregnancy in Florida and weighing your options, you may wonder, “If I put my baby up for adoption, how do I know he or she will go to a safe and loving family?”
That’s a great question, and a really common one too. Ensuring that children are placed with the right families, who can meet their needs and give them the best life possible, is one of the best parts of our job at The Adoption Law Offices of Madonna M. Finney.
When an expectant mother decides that the loving option of adoption is right for her, we guide her through the adoption process and work with her to determine what she imagines for her baby’s future, including what type of family she wants for her baby. Some example questions that we may ask to help find the perfect family are:
- Do you prefer a married couple or would you consider single parents?
- Do you want your child to have siblings?
- Do you have preferences with regard to race or religion for your baby’s family?
Once we have an idea of the type of family that a birth mother desires, we gather online adoption profiles of families that meet her criteria for her to make her choice, we have more than are posted on our website. EVERY family presented to a birth mother has gone through the rigorous home study process and is approved for adoption. As part of the home study process, the family’s criminal and child abuse histories will be checked, their home will be inspected to ensure that it is safe and appropriate for children, references will be gathered, the family will be educated on adoption. Each family member will even go through a medical check up to ensure that the baby will have a bright future with their adoptive family. And at the end of the day, YOU get to select the family, YOU get to speak with them and meet them if you’d like, so that you may feel assured they are the right family for your child.
We imagine that if you’re experiencing an unplanned pregnancy right now, you’re probably under a lot of stress. You have a lot of decisions ahead of you. If would like to discuss Florida adoption or would just like someone to speak to about what’s going on in your life, we’d be happy to talk with you. There is no charge and no obligation on your part to “give baby up for adoption.” We’ll simply just talk things over and get to know you a little better. If you want to learn more about adoption, we can discuss what sort of financial assistance is available to expectant mothers who chose adoption, as well as the free medical care and counseling.
