A couple of years ago, I was contacted by a woman who was looking around for adoption agencies in Milton. After talking, she decided to work with me and together we created an open adoption plan for her unborn daughter. Over the course of her pregnancy, I had the opportunity to witness a relationship develop between her and the adoptive parents. They spent time together, talking and getting to know one another, as they prepared for the birth of this little girl.Not only did the adoptive parents bond with the birth mother, but they bonded with her siblings and parents as well. It was certainly an emotional situation for everyone, but the shared love they all had for this baby, who was not even born yet, was beautiful.
After the adoptive parents returned home, the adoptive mom called and told me that she had some cards, written by her family and friends, for the birth mother. These were cards of thanks, showing their gratitude towards her for choosing this family to raise her child. I was in awe, yet again, at just how much love this brave birth mother was being shown!
I think most people would agree that it is impossible for a child to be loved by too many people. My wish for this child is that she may one day know just how much she was loved even before she was born! I also wish for this child to grow up knowing that without her courageous birth mother’s choice to place her for adoption with a loving family, she may have never known so many different kinds of love.
What had started as an unplanned pregnancy in Milton, became an open adoption plan and then later, a planned placement made with love. What a beautiful outcome for such a difficult beginning!
