Adoption is not always an easy decision. There are many things to think about when deciding to be a parent or to create an adoption plan: finances, what social support you will have, and whether you’re ready to parent. In the end, you are the best person to make the decision that is right for you. The Adoption Law Offices of Madonna M. Finney can help you understand your options. Talk to our adoption counselors and develop an adoption plan for your baby. An adoption plan ensures you receive the support you need on your adoption journey.
Creating an Adoption Plan
As a prospective birth mother, you can create a unique adoption plan for your child. There is no right or wrong way to create an adoption plan. Your adoption social worker can help create a plan that makes you feel comfortable and confident in your decision and meets your goals and expectations for your adoption.
The adoption process
Our adoption social worker can guide you through the adoption process to help you make an informed decision.
- Once you have decided to give your child up for adoption, our professionals will start the preliminary paperwork.
- You can select from the type of adoption you want (open, semi-open, or closed).
- Depending on the type of your adoption plan, you can choose to have contact with and even meet the adoptive family. This contact, or openness, may help you to be confident in the choices you are making for your child.
- After the placement of your baby, you’re eligible for postpartum support and counseling. You can also join our Birth Mother Support Group if you wish.
Florida law allows you to receive needed birth mother benefits, which may include the following:
- Living Expenses such as food, toiletries, and clothing
- Housing
- Telephone
- Counseling
- Medical care
- Transportations
